    • Curtis E. Monson, 78, Hiawatha, passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015 at a local healthcare facility. He was born March 7, 1937 in Atchison.

      He was a member of the United Methodist Church and Sons of Norway. He liked to restore antique tractors and enjoyed fishing.

      Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Grace (Weber) Monson; brothers, Virgil, Stanley and Daniel “Boonie” Monson; sisters, Maxine Hisle and Joyce Cheek; nephew, Larry Charles Cheek; brother-in-law, Larry Cheek; and sister-in-law, Karen Monson.

      Survivors include son, Douglas Monson, Robinson, Kansas; daughters, Kimberly Young (Mark), Topeka, Kansas, Jolene Carter (Mark), Hiawatha, Kansas and Terri Griffin (Thomas), Omaha, Nebraska; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Monson (Lorrene), John Monson and Dale Monson; sister, Judy Cooper (Bill); sisters-in-law, Virginia Monson and Lois Monson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

      Mr. Monson was a member of the Kansas Cremation Service.
