Newspaper Obituary - Monday, August 24, 1987 Syracuse Post-Standard — Syracuse, New York — Services for Varick L. Austin, 89, of Wolverine Apartments, North Townsend Street, who died Saturday, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, . Pulaski. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 7389 Park Street. Mr. Austin was born in Gouverneur, and moved to Syracuse in 1975. He was employed as a truck driver by various firms in Syracuse. He was a member of the Syracuse Moose Club and the Senior Citizens Club of Syracuse. Surviving are two sons, Bernard of Oneonta and Joseph of Syracuse; a sister, Pauline Vincent of Watertown; a brother, Israel Fields of Freeville; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
