- Peter W. Caufield, age 54, resident of Sandy Creek, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 28, 2025. Peter was born August 20, 1971. He graduated from Sandy Creek Central School in 1989. He served in the United States Army from 1989 until 1993. After an honorable discharge, he worked doing sand blasting and construction. He later took truck driving classes and went to work for the Oswego County Highway Department in 2009. He worked his way up over the years and became Crew Leader. Peter was married for 23-years to the love of his life, Sarah Collins, on April 27, 2003.
Peter was a father whose devotion shaped his home and whose mischievous grin kept everyone laughing. Peter enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He loved raising animals and enjoyed wildlife. His biggest passion was his family. Peter enjoyed teaching his kids and grandchildren to hunt and fish the way his own grandpa did.
Surviving, are his wife Sarah, and their four children, Eden (Matt) Wood, Dylan (Rachael) Davis, Austin (Morgan) Davis, and Hannah (Hunter) Delamater. He adored his grandchildren, Jaxon, Hudson, Mason, Cyris, Adelynn, Brysyon, Haisleigh, Winry, McKinley and Everly. Peter was also survived by a brother, and predeceased by a daughter, Hope Caufield.
