- Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, April 2, 1924 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - New Centerville - The body of Mrs. Herbert G. Stevenson who died Monday, March 26th in the Watertown hospital, was brought to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mattison where the funeral was held at 3:30 o'clock, Thursday afternoon, the Rev. D. W. Bunville, pastor of the M. E. church of Richland officiating. Flora Etta Mattison, wife of Herbert G. Stevenson of 325 West Mullin Street, Watertown, was born in New Centerville, February 28, 1882 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Mattison. She grew to young womanhood and was married from her parent's home November 28, 1904 to Herbert G. Stevenson. They began their early married life in Watertown where they have since resided. Five children were born to this union, Ruth, Alice, Robert, Betty and baby Richard Hubert, following whose birth the mother gave up her life. Mrs. Stevenson was a member of the First M. E. church of Watertown, where services were conducted at 12 o'clock, Thursday by Dr. A. E. Lambert. She was also a member of the Auxiliary of the Order of Railway conductors. Members of this order came in a special car accompanied by sorrowing neighbors and friends to attend the services at Richland. The many and beautiful floral pieces showed the high esteem in which the one who has gone and her family are held. Surviving besides her children are her husband who is a New York Central conductor, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Mattison of New Centerville, a sister, Mrs. Ward Lamb of Fulton and a brother, Harold Mattison of Richland.
