      Jennie M. Brown, 85, formerly of Grove Street, died Wednesday at Oswego Hospital.

      Mrs. Brown worked at the former Dairylea plant from 1957 until her retirement in November 1976.

      Born Nov. 26, 1912, in Lyme, daughter of Frederick and Edith Calhoun McConnell, she attended Chaumont schools and then worked raising her brothers and sisters at the family home at Three Mile Bay

      She married Secil R. Brown on Nov. 28, 1931, at Three Mile Bay with the Rev. George Foote officiating. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Rodman, where they worked on the Kenfield farm for 12 years. In 1944, they moved to Adams and worked on the Albert Tolman farm for many years. Mr. Brown, a retiree of the state Department of Transportation, died March 6.

      Surviving are a son, Secil Thurston Brown, New Haven; five brothers, Calvin McConnell, Rodman, Warren McConnell, Richland, Melzer McConnell, Mexico, Leland McConnell, California, and Chester McConnell, Watertown; three sisters, Aletha Stewart, Marathon, Etta VanAlystyne, Watertown, and Wealtha Prior, Rodman; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

      Eight brothers and sisters died before her.

      The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Piddock Funeral Home, with the Rev. Vivian Summerville, pastor of New Haven United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.

      Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
