Donald H. Peabody, 84, Port Street, died Wednesday at his home.
He was a master mechanic on heavy equipment on construction projects in New York.
Born May 10, 1922, in Pitcairn, son of Harvey and Ida Fenton Peabody, he had resided in Pulaski since 1961. Previously, he had lived in Hermon and attended Hermon schools. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 in General George Patton's 3rd Army, receiving a Purple Heart.
He married Ruth C. Day on June 30, 1946. Mrs. Peabody died Feb. 9, 1975.
Mr. Peabody was a member of Operating Engineers Local 545 for 50 years, Masonic Lodge 415, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7289, a life member of Robert Edwards Post 357 American Legion and it's Forty & Eight and was a volunteer for Oswego County Opportunities.
Surviving are a son, Larry H., Pulaski; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann Marie and John Toomey, Richland; two brothers, Burton, Hermon, and Stanley, Canton; a sister, Hazel Burtis, Canton, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
