Edgar L. Haynes, 65, Port Street, died Friday in the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse, after a long illness.
The funeral will be at noon Tuesday at Watson Funeral Home, Central Square. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Surviving are three daughters, Vicky-Lynn Jackit, Utica, Valerie Ann Taylor, Georgia, and Veronica Ellen Haynes, Pennellville; four grandchildren; four brothers, Dale, Florida, Donald, Mexico, Millard, Pulaski, and Joseph, North Syracuse, and two sisters, Verniece Hildebrand, Utah, and Dawn Bergman, Homer.
His wife, Jacqueline Siwik Haynes died in 1983.
Born Oct. 3, 1928, in Pine City, a son of Raymond and Flora Ann Ottoway Haynes, he graduated from East Syracuse High School in 1947 and the Syracuse Police Academy and served in the Army.
Mr. Haynes retired in 1990 as head of maintenance workers after working for 10 years for Sen. Douglas Barclay's residence in Pulaski. He served as police officer from 1956 to 1968 with the East Syracuse Police Department and was a partner in the operation of Don's Upholstry Shop, North Syracuse.
Mr. Haynes lived in Florida before moving to the Pulaski area about 20 years ago.
