- Robert E. Obleman, 90, of 12 Academy St., died Wednesday at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown. Mr. Obleman was retired from General Crushed Stone Co., where he was a machine operator. Born March 21, 1917, in Watertown, son of Miles and Florence Stage Obleman, he graduated from Sandy Creek High School. He served in the Army during World War II, from Dec. 5, 1942, to Nov. 16, 1945. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, a Purple Heart, an American Service Medical Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal. He married Charlotte M. Veley on Oct. 5, 1940, at the home of her parents in Mannsville with the Rev. Miles L. Hutchinson officiating. Mrs. Veley died Jan. 7, 1998. Mr. Obleman spent much of his life at Montario Point on Lake Ontario. He was a member of Cable Trail Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8534. Surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek, with the Rev. Charles Henderson officiating. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek.
