Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, March 4, 1986 Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Richland - Raymond P. Filkins, Jr., 66, of County Route 2, died unexpectedly Monday morning at his home. Arlis I. Filkins, 64, died Monday evening at the House of the Good Samaritan Hospital where she was admitted shortly after the death of her husband. Mr. Filkins was born March 21, 1919 in the town of Richland. He was the son of the late Raymond and Florence Coon Filkins. He attended Pulaski Academy and Central School. He had been employed with New York Central Railroad and with Conrail for 44 years, retiring in 1979. Mr. Filkins was a past member of the Richland Fire Department. Mrs. Filkins was born December 13, 1921 in Pyrities, New York. She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Agnes Badger Bushaw. She attended Sandy Creek Central School. She had been employed with Curtis Mills, Richland, for several years. The couple wed September 25, 1940 and resided all their married life in Richland. Surviving are a son, Thomas J. of Pulaski; a daughter, Mrs. Philip (Carol) Martin of Richland, and seven grandchildren. Mr. Filkins is also survived by two brothers, R. Neil of North Syracuse and John H. of Richland, and a sister, Dorothy Obleman of Richland. Mrs. Filkins is also survived by a stepmother, Anna Bushaw of Camden, New York; two brothers, George Bushaw of Belleville, New York, and Blythe Bushaw of McConnellsville, New York, and a step-sister, Sonja Kolanko of Camden. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Foster Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, the Rev. Earl M. Smith officiating. Spring burial will be in Richland Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 7383 Park Street.
