Newspaper Obituary - Saturday July 31, 2004 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Clifford W. Sherman Heavy Equipment Operator - Clifford W. Sherman, 80, County Route 5, died Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, Syracuse. Mr. Sherman was a heavy- equipment operator for 30 years on construction projects in Central New York. He served 10 years as town of Richland highway superintendent, from 1976 to 1986. Born January 6, 1924, in the town of Richland, son of Clifford S. and Katherine M. Allport Sherman, he attended Pulaski High School and served in the Army Air Forces from 1943 to 1945, flying 35 missions over Germany during World War II. He served in the Air National Guard from 1945 to 1977. He married Lillian R. Crandall on November 25, 1945. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 545 in Syracuse, Robert Edwards American Legion Post 358 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7289, both of Pulaski, former president and member of Pathfinder Antique Car Club of Fulton, and member and former officer of Bethel Community Center, Port Ontario. Surviving besides his wife are several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Wiltse officiating. Burial will be in Daysville Cemetery. Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
