TIFTON -- Dessie Lee Skaggs Montelonga, 88, of Tifton, died Thursday Aug. 11, 2005, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Roger Tucker officiating. Interment will follow at Lawrence Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steven Skaggs, Michael Sivalia, Rudy Skaggs, Monty Skaggs, Pete Skaggs and Chris Skaggs. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Vanceville Christian Congregational Church.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bowen-Donaldson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Montelonga was born May 2, 1917, in Grayson County, Ky. She was the daughter of Berthal Skaggs and Mary Tucker Skaggs, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Vanceville Christian Congregational Church. She was a resident of Tifton for 29 1/2 years.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Ellard "Sid" Skaggs and Monty L. Skaggs Sr.; a daughter, Doreatha "Dee" Hobbs; a brother, Arnold Skaggs and a sister, Mary Hatfield.
She is survived by her husband, Peter Montelonga of Tifton; a son, Dolph "Sam" Skaggs of Enigma; a daughter, Rozella Foust of Keyes, Okla.; 23 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
