      LACONA - Dicia A. Whipple age 84 of Lacona died Friday at Sunrise Nursing Home in Oswego. Born Aug. 22, 1925 at Lacona. Daughter of Ralph & Lena Presley Briggs. Graduated from Sandy Creek High School. Married to Carl Whipple in 1946 and he died in 1994. She was a waitress in her younger years at Colgate Inn at Hamilton and was manager of Hazel's Restaurant in Sandy Creek. She was a faithful member and Sunday School teacher at the Sandy Creek Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed crocheting afghans and donating them to friends and relatives.

      Survived by 4 daughters; Carol White of Adams Center, Diane (Mike) Sperling of Central Square, Christal (Larry) Goodsell of Pulaski, Denise (Jim) Cofer of Thurmont, MD. 1 son, David Whipple of Lacona. 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren. Predeceased by a sister Mildred Vincent, and 2 brothers Othmer and Keith Briggs.

      Funeral will be Sunday 3:30 p.m. at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek. Rev. Thomas G. Hood officiating. Burial in Boylston-Sandy Creek Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
