- Dorice Stewart Obituary
Dorice E Stewart, 97 of Lacona passed away December 25, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.
Dorice was born June 12, 1926 in Evans Mills, NY to Nelson and Inice (Carpenter) Tousant. She was educated in LeRay and Black River Schools. She married John E Weed April 18, 1943 he died in 1976. She later married David Stewart May 12, 1984 at North Mexico Methodist Church he died in 2007. They lived in Mexico, Maple View and Lacona.
Dorice was an Executive Housekeeper at Hotel Syracuse for 15 years and later worked for NYS DOT in Mexico for 10 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of Cable Trail VFW auxiliary #8534 and Robert Edwards American Legion Post #358. She enjoyed reading and crocheting and even though she never got her pilots license she was proud to have soloed in an airplane.
She is survived by her children; Donna Tousant (Mike Cooper), Jerome Weed (Linda), grandchildren; Steven Cooper (Miranda), Stephanie M Weed, Jensen E Weed; Great grandson Myles Cooper and many nieces and nephews and had many friends. Dorice was predeceased by her husbands John Weed and David Stewart, a son Nelson E Weed, grandchildren Darren Weed, Nelson E Weed II and Jeffery A Weed.
A Calling Hour will be Tuesday January 2, 2023 at the Sandy Creek United Wesleyan Church from 4-5pm with the Funeral Service to follow at 5pm. Burial will be at Maple View Cemetery in the spring.
