Newspaper Obituary - December 25, 1947 Mexico Independent - Mexico, New York - Mrs. May Pond, Resident of Mexico, Dies - Mrs. May Baratier Pond died Sunday afternoon at the Oswego hospital where she has been a patient since Wednesday. Born in Hastings, January 25, 1893, the daughter of Lewis and Caroline Nellis Baratier. She lived in Hastings until her marriage to Fred Pond, October 29, 1913, they were married at the home of her parents by Rev. Perry O. Wilcox. They moved to St. Lawrence county where they had made their home until they moved to Rodman where they lived for 22 years before moving to Mexico about a year ago. She was a member of the Methodist church in Mexico. Survived by her husband, Fred Pond, Mexico; mother Caroline Baratier, Maple View; four sons, Lewis Pond, Mexico; Herbert Pond, Watertown; Donald Pond, Syracuse; Richard Pond, Mexico; one daughter, Charlotte of Watertown; three brothers, Clarence Baratier, Phoenix; Spriggs Baratier, Hastings; Paul Baratier, Maple View; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 from her home on North Street, Rev. Allan T. Dodge and Rev. Merle Brown of Methodist church officiating. Burial was made in the Willis cemetery at the Town of Richland.
