Newspaper Obituary - Monday, April 13, 1998 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Ruth V. West, 71, County Route 11, West Monroe, formerly of Malone, died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, Syracuse. Mrs. West was a nurse’s aide for 20 years at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home, Central Square. She was a member of Fuller Taylor American Legion Post 915 Auxiliary, Central Square, and a volunteer for Southern Oswego Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Born February 22, 1927, in Malone, a daughter of Archie and Lima Gilbert Bashant, she lived in Malone for 43 years. Surviving are three sons, James, Cleveland, Clifford Jr., New Port Richey, Florida, and Wendell, Central Square; three daughters, Katherine Smith, Brewerton, Beverly Vincent, Williamstown, and Renee Redhead, West Monroe; a brother, Lawrence Bashant, Dell City, Oklahoma; a sister, Olive Sangiovanni, Tupper Lake; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Clifford L. Sr., died before her. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Watson Funeral Home, Central Square. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell.
