Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 20, 1948 Mexico Independent - Mexico, New York - Mrs. Lillian Davis, Mother Of Mrs. Bateman, Dies - Mrs. Lillian L. Davis, mother of Mrs. Lawrence Bateman of Mexico, died Tuesday morning, May 18, at the age of 70 in the Utica General Hospital, where she had been a patient for two months. She was the widow of Charles A. Davis and was born in Marcy, Indiana, February 21, 1878, the daughter of John and Didama Branner Clemans. With her husband she came to Pulaski in 1918 and lived there a number of years, later returning to Indiana. On the death of her husband in 1937, she returned to this vicinity for a number years resided with her son, William Davis, in Utica. She was a member of Pulaski chapter, OES; the Amaranth in Macy; Rising Sun Rebekah lodge, Pulaski, and Pulaski Methodist church and its societies. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Bateman, Mexico; two sons, William Davis, Utica, and John A. Davis, Pulaski, and 11 grandchildren. Services will be conducted at the Taylor funeral home, Pulaski, at 10:30 a.m. Friday by the Rev. James N. Pauley of Pulaski Methodist church, with burial in Willis cemetery.
