- Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, June 6, 1889 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Obituary - Mr. Isaac Jaquith, Jr., was born in Windham County, Vermont, September 19, 1809. He was one of a family of five children. His sister, familiarly known as "Aunt Julia," is 8_years of age, and resides in Parish. Tracing his life down from its beginning, we find at the age of twelve he came from Vermont (a good state by the way, to emigrate from,) in company with his father and family to Rome, in this state. They picked their way through an unbroken wilderness by the aid of blazed trees. The family to which Isaac belonged remained at Rome for only about a year, then they came to Albion and settled, since which time this has been his home. His father and uncle Peter Henderson were the first settlers of this town making Isaac a pioneer of the county. At the age of twenty-five he married Elizabeth Phillips, on the 13th of November, 1834. Their children were Henry Isaac, born June 25, 1837; Horace Decatur, bom October 16, 1842. Coming down the stream of time, we find him the owner of a large timbered tract of land. He built a saw mill. Here he got out lumber which was used in the construction of the old plank road from Rome to Pulaski. Some of his lumber was sent to Port Ontario and shipped from there to other ports. When in his prime he was greatly honored by the town. He failed at different times the offices respectively, of Supervisor, Assessor, and Path-master.
