      Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, December 19, 1951 Oswego Palladium Times - Accident Victim From Sandy Pond Dies In Hospital - Heart Attack Fatal To Mrs. Abbie Harris, Whose Leg Was Broken As Truck Of Asphalt Overturned - Watertown - Mrs. Abbie Harris, 72, Sandy Pond resident who had been hospitalized here since an unusual accident September 26, died shortly after suffering a heart attack in her bed at the House of the Good Samaritan at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday. Physicians attributed the attack to injuries suffered when a load of asphalt overturned on her while she was walking with a companion on the street at Adams Center, 10 miles south of here. The companion, Mrs. Genevieve Pellens, 69, died shortly after the mishap. Mrs. Harris, a Sandy Pond resident for 30 years, had appeared to be recovering from a severe fracture of the left leg. She was born February 27, 1879, in New Bremen, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah S. Kackison. She attended New Bremen schools and was married to Frank Harris on June 15, 1898, in Beaver Falls. He died in March 1944. Before coming to Sandy Pond, they lived in Beaver Falls, New York Mills and Syracuse. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Bardwell, of Syracuse; a sister, Mrs. Stella Steinback of Fernwood; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon in the Foster funeral home in Pulaski. Burial will be in Daysville cemetery near Mexico.
      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, December 20, 1951 Oswego Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Funeral Of Mrs. Harris Will Be Held Saturday - Pulaski - Funeral services for Mrs. Abby Harris, 72, Sandy Pond, will be held at the Foster funeral home, Pulaski, at 2 p.m. Saturday, by Rev. James N. Pauley, Pulaski Methodist church. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Daysville Cemetery on the Scenic highway between Port Ontario and Mexico. Mrs. Harris died of a heart attack in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, Tuesday. She had been a patient there since September 26 as the result of an accident in Adams which cost the life of Mrs. Mathew Pellens of Sandy Pond. A truck loaded with molten tarvia went out of control and turned over on a sidewalk, burying Mrs. Pellens and killing her almost instantly while Mrs. Harris suffered a broken hip and serious burns.
