Newspaper Obituary - (date unknown) Mexico Independent - Mexico, New York - Catherine LeBart was born at Prospect, Oneida County, October 1818, living there until 1834, when she was united in marriage to Sardius Dyke of Litchfield, Herkimer County, living there one year, then starting out with an ox team they came to Oswego County, the country being a wild wilderness, having trees marked to show the road. They settled on what is known as the Frank Bulen farm, enduring all the privations of an early settlers life. They managed to clear up and sow to winter wheat ten acres of land. They then traded places with David Bulen, which is now the home of Sylvester Dyke. They lived there many years, raising their family, and by diligent and faithful service they managed to clear up and purchase a number of acres of land, 240. They then purchased a small place living there until he died in 1889, in his 77th year. His wife has since resided with her children, enjoying very good health until about nine weeks before her death. She was sick three weeks at the home of her son Almon, in Texas and knowing that her life was nearly over, wanted to be taken to the home of her son Sylvester, who resides on the old homestead. She was tenderly cared for, and at the end of six weeks passed away. She was a devoted wife and a true and loving mother. She leaves to mourn her loss four children, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Miller of New Haven, interment at Sand Hill. Nearer to the hand of Him, Who, with gentle guiding Leads through all life's weary ways, Into peace abiding.
