Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, February 21, 1906 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Mrs. J. S. Morrison - On Thursday morning last our village was pained to learn of the death of Mina Nestle, wife of Jacob S. Morrison, whose life had been in a precarious condition for about three weeks since the birth of a child which died at birth. All that medical skill and loving hands could do was done to prolong her life and hopes and fears alternated over the final result of her sickness. Two of her sisters reached her bedside on Sunday previous to her death and were a source of comfort to her. Mrs. Morrison came here as a bride from Camden, last May, and had made many friends for so short a time by reason of her amiable disposition. Her age was thirty-three years. Her funeral occurred on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., in the Baptist Church of which she was a member and was largely attended by relatives and friends. A. S. Warner Camp, Sons of Veterans, of which Mr. Morrison is an honored member, attended in a body. The Sunday school room had to be thrown open to accommodate the large number in attendance. A quartet composed of Mrs. G. W. Morton, Miss Carrie B. Greenwood, Ernest Burdick and W. D. Ellsworth sang "Abide with Me." Miss Greenwood and Mrs. Morton rendered "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Her pastor, Rev. A. I. Ehle spoke from the words "For we knew that if the earthly house of our tabernacle be dissolved we have a building from God, a house not made with hands eternal in the heavens." He concluded his discourse with some comforting remarks about the deceased sister and the example of a Christian. Surely in the midst of life we are in death. By her request of some years ago, the familiar hymn of which the following is the first verse, was sung. Fade, fade each earthly joy, Jesus is mine. Break every tender tie, Jesus is mine. Dark is the wilderness, Earth has no resting place, Jesus alone can bless, Jesus is mine. Beautiful floral tributes were given by the Sons of Veterans, W. R. C. and other friends. Burial was made in Pulaski cemetery. Deceased is survived, besides her husband by four sisters, Mrs. Tillie Bortle, of Norwich; Miss Florence Nestle and Mrs. Mary Swartz, of Oneida, and Mrs. Lena Sherwood, of Rome, and a brother, Adelbert Nestle, of Oneida.
