Newspaper Obituary - Saturday, June 7, 1997 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Barbara J. Peterson, Wildcliffe Lodge Owner - Barbara J. Peterson, 70, Cranberry Lake, died Friday at Rochester General Hospital. Mrs. Peterson and her husband, Vernon A.. owned and operated Cranberry Lake Wildcliffe Lodge. Previously, she had worked for V.A. Peterson Contracting, Sandy Pond, for 20 years. The business is operated by her sons, Vernon R., Catskill, and Alan, Minoa. Born November 13, 1926, in Buffalo, daughter of Leland and Cecil Serrins Quinlan, she attended Syracuse schools. She married Vernon A. Peterson on March 29, 1945, in Syracuse. The couple resided at Sandy Pond from 1954 to 1979 and moved to Cranberry Lake in 1979. They spent winters in Lakeland, Florida. Surviving besides her husband and two sons are three other sons, Cecil, Greenville, South Carolina, and Stanley and Steven, both of Atlanta, Georgia; five daughters, Joanne Dupont and Lynn Rivers, both of Greenville, Vicki Leach and Vi MacDuffie, both of Pulaski, and Sue Whither, Watertown; a brother, Paul Johnson, Virginia Beach, Virginia; a sister, Nancy Duncan. Staunton, Virginia; 26 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A son, Charles E., died May 5, 1972. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Elizabeth Mowry officiating. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 52 Park Street. Donations may be made to Cranberry Lake or Star Lake Volunteer Fire Departments.
