    • Edith Chvala, born Edith Kate Waljeur in Germany in 1923, was 84 years old when she died on March 5th, 2008 in Tucson, Arizona. A funeral service will be held at St. Francis Newman Center Parrish, 914 13th Street, Silver City on Saturday, March 15th at 12:00 noon. Afterwards there will be a reception held by family and friends.

      Edie was a resident of Silver City, New Mexico since 1990 and of all the places she had lived this became her true home. She was active in the community, a volunteer at the hospital, the University museum and the church. Edie is survived by four of her children, June Chvala (Buffalo, NY), Steve Chvala (Tucson, AZ), Mick Chvala (Tucson, AZ) and Cyrus Chvala (Buffalo, NY), also by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A son, Michael Thomas Chvala, preceded her in death. Edie will be buried along side him in Zelienople, Pennsylvania.
