      Doris E. Gareau, 86, of Malone, died Monday evening, Nov. 7, 2011, at Alice Hyde Nursing Home in Malone, where she had been a resident since October 2008. Her loving family was at her bedside.

      Born in Malone on Aug. 30, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Myrtle Brady Yando.

      She attended Franklin Academy in Malone.

      On Jan. 17, 1946, she married Edward Gareau in Notre Dame Church in Malone. He predeceased her on Dec. 13, 1973.

      Mrs. Gareau had worked at Tru-Stitch in Malone and later for the Alice Hyde Hospital in the laundry department. She retired in 1985.

      Surviving are five sons, and four daughters-in-law, Lloyd and Sally Gareau of Baldwinsville, Steven and Mary Gareau of Ogdensburg, David Gareau of Malone, Edward and Michelle Gareau of Baldwinsville, and James and Patricia Gareau of Westville; a daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Roland Paquin Jr. of Moira; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

      Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Daniel Gareau; three brothers, Francis, Floyd and Lloyd Yando; and a sister, Yvonne Patnode.

      Friends may call at Notre Dame Church in Malone on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

      Memorials may be made to the Westville Fire and Rescue Squad or to the Alice Hyde Nursing Home Patient Activity Fund.
